Whether I was playing with curlers while my mom got her hair done, or asking for wild cuts from my local hairdresser in my early teens, the salon has always felt like a place of comfort and safety to me. After years of diving into jazz violin, I found myself looking for a craft that would let me be creative while also staying connected with people.
I graduated from the École des métiers des Faubourgs-de-Montréal in early 2022, and around the same time, I was lucky enough to start working at Two Horses—a real safe space—where the learning has been exponential ever since.
I cut my own hair for a long time. I think it gave me a sense of control over my identity and let me constantly explore different sides of myself. With my clients, I try to pass that feeling on by helping them feel empowered by focusing on their comfort and vision.
My favorite part of my work is seeing someone light up when they discover a new version of themselves in the mirror.
I see haircutting a bit like sculpting, I like to let the hair itself guide me. It’s really important to me to work with your natural texture and flow, rather than trying to fight it or force it into something it’s not.
When I’m not cutting hair, you can find me singing in a feminist cover band, getting blisters at the climbing gym, or obsessing over a new hobby I’ll probably drop in two weeks.
