I left home (Amman, Jordan) for Montreal in 2018 to attend Concordia University, where I got my BA in Communication Studies & Sociology in 2021. My degree had been rooted in hands-on production, but I always lacked a real medium. After graduating, I landed in the 9-5 world as a Communications Coordinator where it didn’t take long to realise I wasn’t in the right place. The corporate pace, the rigid structure, the questionable ethics all clashed with what I value most.
When COVID came, I watched my community lean on each other, trading skills instead of circulating capital, I realised I didn’t want to chase a career, that I instead yearned to master a craft. I wanted something tangible, peer-to-peer, and alive outside the systems I didn’t believe in. More than anything, I wanted to spend my days connecting with people in an open, human way.
After two years, I left my job and enrolled in the Hairstyling DEP at Gordon Robertson Beauty Academy where I graduated as valedictorian in June 2025. From that point on i am discovereing the magic of finding a passion.
Over the past year and a half, I’ve not only gained the technical skills to care for and style hair, but through collaborating and creating with clients, my teachers, and other stylists, I found a deeper connection to myself and my community. Being in salons has been revitalising and more rewarding than I imagined. I am constantly learning as much about care, true craftsmanship, trust, and creativity. As I am about technique, I can’t wait to continue to evolve, learn and grow alongside the Two Horses team!
My time away from hair is spent with my community in the sun (preferably by a beach/ideally in my homeland) or on the couch with a yummy meal in front of some anime, Egyptian, or reality.
